Hello you nasty freaks and welcome to the first of many videos I plan to make about the mobile/web-based game, Spellstone. This is a guide to runes. In Spellstone, runes are fancy little trinkets you can craft and embed into your cards to make their skills stronger. All aspects of runes are discussed here from beginning to finish. You will learn what they are, what you need to make them, advanced rune aspects and everything in between.

This video was made for the Spellstone beginner, but it also includes some information that experienced Spellstone players should be able to appreciate. So... pour a deliciously nerdy drink, plug in your ipad or laptop, tell your significant other you're doing something way cooler than you actually are and prepare to learn about Spellstone runes.

Now I'm going to go over all the nitty gritty advanced runecrafting tips. The ins, the outs, the technical information, the what ifs, and basically try to answer every question anyone could ever have about runes, ok, here we go.

- You cannot pick the exact rune you will craft, they will always be random.

- Each card can only hold one rune at a time.

- You cannot remove the rune and place it in another card later.

- You can embed runes into Epic and higher cards, not rares or commons.

- You can only embed a rune into a card that already has that skill.

- Once you embed a rune, it's basically permanant. The only way to get rid of it is by repeating the process on that card with a different rune, and the old one will disappear.

- Upgrading a card with a rune embedded will NOT destroy the rune. It will still be safe and sound with a bonus applied, unless the skill changes as mentioned below.

- If you embed a rune, and then the affected skill changes to something different when the card is upgraded, the bonus will no longer be applied, but the rune will remain. Yes. A pointless hunk of regret stone. (e.g. You take a dual fused card with Bolt 3 and embed a Bolt +1 rune into it. All is good, but if that card's skill changes to Bolt All 1 or something when it is quadded or upgraded, the bonus will disappear, but the rune will still be there. Again, this is totally annoying. I can't stop thinking about it.)

- "Single Target" runes do not work with "Target All" cards, and the other way around. (e.g. You cannot embed a "Hex All +2" rune into a card with "Hex 4" as a skill, and similarly, you cannot embed a "Bolt +1" rune into a card with the "Bolt All 2" skill.)

- If you vaporize a card that has a rune embedded, you have a chance to get the rune's materials back. In my experience, you usually only get a few of the basic materials, and almost never get a shell back.

- When you are fusing a card that already has a rune embedded, make sure that card is on the left in the fuse screen (aka the main card you are using to start the fusion), or the rune will definitely disappear. In other words, if you want to keep the rune in a card during a fusion, make sure you drag that one to the left on the upgrade screen. You can also use this as a sneaky way to unembed a rune if you jumped the gun and now want to use a different rune on that card.
